» Task: set up a personal-professional artist website, applying lessons of communicating through digital media and network rhetoric for multiple audiences.
Components (individual pages or combined; certainly re-name more creatively!)
- Front/Main/Intro Page — with 2 elements compelling attention (e.g. visual media, quote, personal logo/emblem, brief description, etc.)
- Contact (Form recommended; optionally, social-networking connection, e.g. LinkedIn)
- Artist Statement — updated
— using early blog/exercise writing + insights about art field, aesthetics, and technology in contemporary conditions (ideas from term & other classes)
- Portfolio (with at least representative example/s) — suggest: slideshow of images
- C.V. (Experience, Skills, Projects Past/Present, etc.)
- Lessons for Artists in Network-Media Ecology
- — i.e. guide for “online presence,” 200–400 words
including specialized terms/concepts from field (2 min.) and from class (1 min., e.g. about media ecology); links to examples, publications, and resources (1 each min.)

Instructions for Blog Re-Format
(using current WordPress for CraftScreen)
Overall layout: blog reformatted for new purpose
- Static home page (rather than blog entries on front page)
- “Blog” page/section
* Steps: (crucial preliminary sequence — create & update new pages)
- 1) Create a new page that will become your home/front page (name it anything, “Home”).
- Create additional pages for CraftScreen (required components above)
- (optional) Add Widgets (in Dashboard): Social Media/Network? (suggested)
“Categories” and “Tag Cloud” ?
2) Create a new page titled “Blog” (or anything, like “Posts”) *leave blank*
3) Convert blog to static home page → follow WordPress Guide
4) (important) Update your Custom Menu (follow WP.com guide)

5) Create / update your About page
New Theme & Title
- Change Theme to one expressive of artist identity (online persona / brand)
1) Dashboard → Appearance → Themes
Change title: re-name your blog with an apt title (professional + personal + artistic?)
1) Dashboard → Settings → Blog Title & Tagline
Optional: Enable “Tag cloud” & “Categories” widget
- 1) Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets
* Suggested To tag and categorize entries:
1) Dashboard → Posts → Edit Posts
2) Select post to Edit → Add/type tags (right column) → Click “Add” Button.
3) “Categories” → Choose/create (right column)
*4) Click “Update” (right column) to save (not updated, otherwise).
→ reminder: don’t forget to tag & categorize old entries
