Questions & Prompts for blogging thus far
(prior to Internet Invention reading)
— What is your “working definition” of expression?
— What recent example of culture or media has caused you to think differently, upon “engaging” with it (however defined)?
— What is your earliest memory of using computer and digital communication technology? Can you recall your life before acquiring ready/frequent access to 1) computers and 2) Internet / Web? (were these distinct events, or have you grown up using computers with Internet connectivity?)
Q. What is your initial conception of our course title, “Writing through Media”?
Given the two senses of the term “media” — 1) medium, form; 2) content — are you thinking of it as a composite of both categories?
Need to contemplate and differentiate this… likewise, consider “Internet” and “Web” (or “the Web”?).
suggested exercise: start noting your understanding of concepts before “Googling” them; then, note any observations or reflections subsequently….
— even better, note unfamiliar terms in your reading Internet Invention: more for yourself for later, to see when you “get it,” but also for speculating (blog) and for inquiring directly (class).
Of course, I’m quite interested to learn the outcome of your searching class terms! (Any observations so far?)
Any luck with the course title?
(Hopefully not from the Web: only participants in our course can define, through demonstrations during our experiment!)
“Wide Images” (from Ulmer’s site)
Frank Gehry
Albert Einstein
Manet’s Olympia
That “working definition” of expression was a lot harder to pin down then I thought it would be.
Here is my blog link. I don’t think you posted it on the sidebar
