Presentations

Note: Group leaders (*) — please create a new blog entry ASAP for group discussion (in comments).

In brief comments over weekend, group members should
    1. divide material (i.e. post what you would like/will cover)
    2. specify points and rationale (e.g. time shifts in Maus, multiple narratives/times = “assemblage”)
    3. collaborate in preparation: review, revise, refine specific points (i.e. discuss whether relevant, practical, sufficiently specific, etc)
    4. discuss questions (answering = optional; Qs to pose during presentation are good preparation, too); can be conceptual and technical: “should we…?” and “how do we…?” varieties work best.

Example Group Discussion of Maus (in comments):

  • GH (Sat 3:47pm): I’ll discuss time frames, multiple narratives, survivor’s guilt, & illustrations.
    • GroupMember 1: (Sat 6:15pm): we need to be more specific, plus connect to assignment. I’ll cover writing multiple narratives, if you want to show layout & image examples?
Should we include images in “conventional” or “unconventional” fashion?

    • Gr.Memb 2: (Sat 8:08pm): probably both types, like the examples we’ve seen?
I can show some images I’ll make in Pixlr…

    • GH (Sun 1:54am): OK, I’ll cover layout and design of pages, plus, how to make links of images. Are “custom” images required?
  • Gr.Memb 3 (Sat 9:25pm): I plan to cover memory and history, and the different styles Maus uses for these. we should probably write these in a few ways, like our “Exercises” and in chapter 3 :-)

Just a heads up on our presentations today…I’m not sure where the other half of our group has been this weekend, so I really have no idea what half of the presentation materials are going to be. We’re not getting a group grade on this are we?
